Away Message

A trip to Augusta tomorrow means a short little blog break. I've already noticed that I've only blogged a random few times about a random few things this month. Lame, I know. I can't imagine that anyone would actually enjoy reading about my mostly boring days. Lets see, today I cleaned the house (a MUST before any trip out of town... hate coming home to a dirty house. HATE it.), did a few loads of laundry (again, for our trip.), took princess Mauve to her favorite place in the whole wide world, Lakeside Kennels (again.... trip.), ran a grueling 4 miles, showered (you're welcome), went to church, played Lego Harry Potter on the playstation (pretty sure this one validates my absolute lame-ness) and packed a suitcase.

Fascinating, right?

Here's a little tidbit that might pique some interests- I got a guitar today. Technically, it's been in Jordan's possession for a few years now, but needed some new strings and some TLC. So it's all shiny and new now and I've already clipped my fingernails and almost learned a chord or two.

And that's about it. Off to Georgia bright and early in the morning!

Advo-tearing it up.

I'm a hair past halfway done with my 24 day challenge. So far it's been awesome. SERIOUSLY. Who would've ever thought that I would say a dairy-free, carb-free, sugar-free diet would be awesome?!

But it is.

I've already seen some pretty majorly fantastic results and just get more and more pumped to see what else my body can do in these last 10 days. I can't wait to share my before and after stats. Want a small taste already? Lets just say, I feel fantastic and haven't been this small (weight-wise) since high school. Ridiculousness! I think my excitement is maybe catching, because I know of at least 4 people who are also considering this challenge!

14 days down. 10 days to go.

Bad Weather Blues

So the weather here in Rockport has been nothing short of miserable the last week or so. Cold, windy and rainy is good for one thing - grabbing a blanket and taking some glorious afternoon naps. I do appreciate getting the rain, as we desperately needed it, but days upon days of dreary weather leaves me with cabin fever. I braved the weather yesterday and ran 4 miles in the (what felt like) icy cold rain and was miserable. Facebook also assures me that I'm not alone, because I know many of my friends have posted about cold, snowy weather where they live also. It's just that dreary weather time of year.

So to brighten things up a little, I've done a little online shopping looking for some lovely and colorful spring styles. Thinking and dreaming of warmer weather...

Love the coral colors in these earrings. They also come in turquoise, which is fun and spring-y. I have both pairs and have gotten numerous compliments on them! I can't wait to wear them with a cute sundress!

Wouldn't this top be absolutely adorable with some white skinny jeans and these fun wedges? I think so!

I'm sure this will more than scream southern roots and Georgia upbringing, but I just love me some Lilly Pulitzer. Aren't the clothes just the epitome of sunny springtime in the south? I could easily see myself wearing this dress to a baby or wedding shower. I've thought long and hard about making this cute dress a home in my closet.

Maybe a little shot of color and fun spring-y patterns is all we need to emerge from the dreary weather doldrums. Here's looking forward to sunny days in the forecast!

Tough.

It's been a hard week here at the Mims camp.

Issues with friends and family, health and heartache, like I said, it's been a hard week. Three separate devastating events in one week is a little much, and I can only hope that in each of these situations, that God's love and healing can restore hearts and bodies.

My heart is heavy for the people whom I so dearly love who are truly struggling right now.

24 days from today...

I got a wild hair. A coworker friend and I are going out on a limb for the next 3 weeks and jumping onto the 24 Day Challenge from Advocare.

I hadn't ever heard of Advocare before I met this coworker and if you haven't heard of it either, it's like a health and wellness type company. They sell nutritional supplements and good-for-you kind of things. So these geniuses came up with a challenging 24 day diet + supplement plan designed to cleanse your body of yucky toxins, starve fat cells and feed muscle fibers. It is supposed to reset your body's cravings, making you less apt to want sugar, carbs and processed foods. Jordan and I have already both been changing the way we eat, seeking out more natural, organic, and especially local foods, so this "diet" comes right on the heels of some great changes we've already started. (I use the word diet loosely, as it's intended to be a cleanse and hopefully change the way I look at food entirely. Like they say, doing something for 3 weeks makes it a habit.)

So today is Day #1 of the 24 days. The first 10 is a strict cleanse with no sugar, carbs (except whole grains), or dairy! Also, only lean proteins, healthy fats (nuts, natural peanut butter, avocado, etc.), and gallons of water. I am a serious sweet-o-holic and am really hoping this will break my addition to sugar. And so, I'm on the quest to be healthier, happier (with more energy), and hopefully lighter (woohoo!). I'm a little embarrassed to post my beginning measurements for all the world to see, but I do have a picture and measurements, so maybe I'll make one of those cool before/after pictures like on Pinterest and post that at the very end.

Bring on the unflavored rice cakes.
