I've wrestled with this idea for 2 days now and am finally convinced to just Go For It.
I'm hosting my first (and maybe only) Q&A. Cue the cheers and applause!
And I know there are plenty of curious minds out there who want to know all the ins and outs and gory details of working in Labor & Delivery. Maybe some of you don't want to know ALL the details. Sometimes I try hard to forget ALL the details. But all the other fun parts, scary parts, hilarious parts and sad parts are fun to share. I've spent many a Girl's Night answering questions about my life in L&D. What's the most popular baby name? What's the craziest name you've ever seen? What's the grossest thing you've ever seen? And so on.
You know you're curious. Leave a comment with your question (or questions!!) and wait excitedly for a followup post with all the answers!
Don't leave me hanging here.
Seriously.
Leave me a comment... now.
Ps. Thanks Google for that great stirrup pant picture. Get the joke? Stirrups? Stirrup pants? Hello? Is this thing on???

HAHAAHAHA... I get it!
Most appreciated thing a patient can do for their nurse?
What is the best thing a patient or their family has done for you?
Whats the grossest thing youve ever seen?
Love the stirrup joke. ;)
How common is hemorrhaging after delivery?
(I nearly died with my 1st. Had a blood transfusion. Long story. Went on to have two more babies, though!)
Sophisticated Steps
1) What percentage of people poop? Most? I sure did.
2) Are most laboring moms vulgar? I'd like to say I was polite as possible.
3) How about hair-down-there? Sorry, too much, eh?
4) Fastest delivery story.
I love your blog! And the stirrup pants crack me up even though I was a stirrup pants kind-a-girl back in the day. I thought I hot stuff in those wedgie giving britches.
Okay, my question is this....have you ever delivered a baby where the Mother was like "Huh, didn't know I was prego until an hour ago!!"
Ever had any 'baby daddy' surprises? Like...one time I heard about a situation where the married parents (both white) were there and mom delivered baby and it was SURPRISE!!! Definitely not white. Dad was a little shocked. I think things went downhill from there...
Also, now that you've probably seen it all, L&D-wise, how does this affect your OWN birth plans? I know you're not itchin' to give birth anytime soon (is it BECAUSE of all you know?)...but when you do, are you a bigger fan of au naturel (doulas and midwives), maybe a waterbirth...or a more traditional 'natural' (with epidurals and pitocin and such), or like...planned c-section all the way? Opinions?
So, I came over from Erika's blog (you're welcome, Ericka!) and I have a question:
In January I will begin my L&D rotation in nursing school. What advice would you give me when it comes to the patients? I'm not too nervous about the delivery part because I've been in 3 and I've had 2 c-sections myself. I just want to know what the mom needs and how to keep her the most comfortable!
Thanks! Susan
Oh sister, your so funny. Hmmm..questions, questions...
So What is the funniest thing a laboring woman has ever shouted out in the "heat of the moment"?
How many husbands or significant others (on average) pass out during a delivery?
Love you!
Cas
Thanks for your kind comments on my blog!
I have a question for you: what advice would you give to someone going through nursing school?
