Cardboard boxes everywhere...

So we moved into our house on Saturday!

We had so much help moving all our junk from storage unit to house; we've got an awesome church family! There were so many strong arms & trucks, it only took 1 trip! The trucks were unloaded and the furniture was... well in the house in less than an hour. And then the fun started... unpacking. We still have a few boxes left still to be put away, I promise i'll put some pictures of the unpacked house on here, just as soon as it's in order.

And until then.....

Pictures of Mauve!!!

Here she is lounging next to one of the many boxes still left unpacked. She seems to like the new place. She went to the vet on Wednesday and had a good checkup! She got her shots and flea/heartworm medicine and got lots of cookies for being such a good girl. Of course, then she came back home and a few hours later, PP'd right in the middle of our master bedroom (which still has no furniture or mattress... but we're working on that!) on top of our new duvet cover! Stinker!!!! I guess our sheets needed a good wash before we put them on our (nonexistent) bed, and she made sure of that!

Her favorite spot to nap is under the couch... I dont really know how she fits down there to begin with, but she sure wont fit under there much longer!

"Hey! Why did you wake me up????!"

Yellow... No Mo!!!

So this is what the guest bedroom to-be looked like before. This was a nursery! Is there anyone who could sleep in a room this bright?? Surely, it glows in the dark. It needed to go.

Taa Daa!!! Would you ever have guessed this was the same room?!

This is the last room to be painted before we moved all the furniture in (which happens tomorrow if you're in the neighborhood...). Do you see those beautiful vacuum triangles? I almost didnt want to walk on the carpet. So long seminary carpet- outdoor quality, no carpet pad, always looked dirty. I'll never miss that nasty carpet.

And while I was busy cleaning, Mauve was sleeping like a baby.

Carefully perched between the couch pillows, she only woke up while I was vacuuming. She wasnt too keen on that vacuum cleaner. I love it when she tilts her head 90 degrees to one side or another, as if to say, "what in the world?!" The Dyson got a few of those stares. And then back to sleep.

Making Progress

Hello.
Mauve got her first bath today, which was an experience for both of us. As you can see, I'm almost as wet as she is. Contrary to pupular (haha... get it? PUP-ular? popular?) belief, it wasnt really all that horrible... infact, I rather enjoyed the whole ordeal. One of these days, she'll be too big for me to bathe by myself and then it wont be quite so enjoyable. The folks at "Groomingdales" will have to enjoy her instead. So far, she's chewed through the Macbook power cord, PP'd in her kennel twice, on the tile twice, in our bedroom once and twice on the rug. Thank you Lord she hasnt poopoo'd anywhere yet. *pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease dont ever poopoo somewhere other than outside* Not only does she enjoy the taste of power cords, but also baseboards, cardboard boxes, socks, plastic water bottles, fingers, and basically anything else that will fit in her mouth. I can already begin to sense that she is becoming defiant in areas and I want to make sure I put my foot down and let her know who is in charge. I'm not above spankings. I love my doggie.

Good girl!

So it looks like we'll finally move our furniture and our bodies into our new house this weekend. After what seems like a whole month worth of painting (1.5 weeks in reality), things are finally looking live-able. At first, I was only certain of the Master Bedroom/Master Bathroom color...

Voila!!! Gray!!!
I got the bedding today and our furniture should be here soon and then the whole space will come together and be.... breathtaking! (hopefully) I found the color in the summer book of paint colors from Pottery Barn- and it's called Rockport Gray. How appropriate. I'm hoping once the furniture is in the house, I can show the "before-during-after" photos.

The rest of the house, however, was a complete mess. I had no idea (I mean Not A Clue) what color I wanted the living room/kitchen to be. I didnt know what color the guest bedroom would be. The spare room and guest bath will go completely unpainted for now. So I made several trips to Lowes, Home Depot, decor magazines and Sherwin-Williams to look for color inspiration.
And then I painted on the wall.
We picked our favorite few colors and got paint samples and lived with them all for a few days. Looked at them in the dark. In the sunlight. In the ceiling fan fluorescent light. Thought about what would be easiest to match considering we're replacing the couch/love seat ASAP, but haven't found anything yet. Thought about what went best with the cabinets and countertops. And finally decided...

Yay Gorgeous!!!
I think the "Herbal Wash" color was easily our favorite of the choices and has turned out to be totally beautiful on the walls in the living room and kitchen. Now, to find furniture!

And finally, my favorite room of the house so far.........
Hello beautiful!!!!

The laundry/utility room is not completely finished yet. I'm hoping to put up beadboard & chair rail around the room, which is why it's only painted 75% of the way down the wall. Also, imagine that top basket on the bottom shelf next to its twins. And the washer/dryer? I never thought I'd love an appliance like I love these guys. The washing machine has a spin-only cycle that looks like a turbo jet engine when it's going full speed. They almost make laundry tolerable.

Fort Worth Weekend

We officially closed on our house a week ago (last Thursday 8/6) and so what did I do to celebrate?

Paint? No.

Buy new furniture? No.

Go on a mini-vacation? Yes!

I dont know if a trip back to Fort Worth can really be considered a mini vacation, but I didnt have to work and I had a great time, which has to count for something, right? I took my camera along with me and took a total of 2 pictures the entire weekend. Seriously. After visiting and having dinner with our old seminary neighbors, getting my hair done, celebrating sweet boy Gabe's first birthday and Carey's baby girl-to-be, going to church, having breakfast with our awesome small group and lunch with several friends (and throw in a little shopping here & there and lots of driving & traffic), you'd think I'd have somewhere around 138 pictures... give or take. Eh well.

I was so thrilled to learn that Allison's expecting! Congratulations Taylors on your sweet baby to be!!! I know a perfect place for a baby-moon.... it's sunny, breezy, there's a beach, and your room & board is free! Doesnt that sound nice? This picture and the one below are from Allison... thank goodness someone thinks about preserving memories!!!!

Yay friends! I love these girls (L to R: Allison, Michele, moi & Catherine). Michele went from a great friend to a greater friend after bringing me a Sprinkles Cupcake; we all know how much I LURVE them. mmMmmMmmMmm. Michele, just in case you were wondering, the cupcake was long gone before I even got to Waco. Pure deliciousness.

And look at this cute little man! He loves his bouncy jumper seat thing. Thankfully, I got lots of Carter loving time over the weekend, because the boy is growing like a weed!!! I couldnt believe how much bigger he has gotten over the last 2 months (Yes, can you believe it? We've lived here in Rockport for 2 months already! Time Flies!). And not just Carter- I saw Jeshua and Noah while in town and they are all growing like weeds.

PS: The next post will be alllllllll about the house, so be prepared!

Many faces of Mauve

After a long ride in the backseat of the Jetta, Mauve has come home to stay for good! She turned 8 weeks old yesterday (her birthday is June 16.) and even though sleeping isnt her forte, Jordan and I are super excited to have her around. I feel like we may have gotten a tiny taste of what parenthood would be like (so long baby fever!)- she was awake & crying every 2 hours on Monday night. Halfway through the night, her kennel was shifted to the garage and she still kept both of us up. Last night, we covered her kennel with a blanket and put a tick-tock clock noise next to her and she didn't cry until 6 this morning. Looks like we'll be repeating this combo tonight!

Hey, I think I need a smaller collar!

I promise I'm not doing anything wrong!

zzzzzzzzzzzz

Hi.

No more pictures, please.
