Fall = Fair time!

Friday, we made our first trip to the Texas State Fair.

Is there any way we can go to the fair without talking about fried foods??? Isnt that the best thing about a fair?! Being that this IS Texas, new fried foods emerge every year. This goes way beyond a corny dog & funnel cake people. Among others, we saw Fried Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Fried PB&J's, Fried alligator, Fried cheese curds, Fried S'mores, Fried Oreos, Fried Honeybuns, Fried Snowballs, Fried Snickers, Fried Lattes (dont know how that one's done...), Fried Banana Splits, Fried Jellybeans, Fried Chocolate Truffles, Fried Ice Cream, and the big food winner this year, Chicken Fried Bacon. What was I most interested in????.....

Mmmmmmmm.... Fried Oreos. Delicious. Think Oreo-flavored funnel cake. What was Jordan's fried desire???? A Fried Snickers Bar (see the very first picture.). Who would've thought anyone could fry a snickers bar. Regardless, it was pretty awesome.

Obviously.

Creepy Big Tex. He's not supposed to be creepy, but I just happen to think that a 52' tall talking dickies-wearing cowboy is just a little creepy. I'm just saying.

Of course, we tried the Chicken Fried Bacon.

And it was good.

We aren't big ride people, so we mostly played games, looked @ the exhibits, ate the food, shopped and walked around. It was fun- and now we can always say we've been to the Texas State Fair. We did not stay for Jessica Simpson. I did not see Jessica walking around. I did not see Tony Romo. I did not care to see either of them.

So 6 hours after making the drive to Dallas, we left $47 poorer, several pounds heavier with sore feet and raging headaches.

I was disappointed with myself for not running after all those fried indiscretions. Alas, I went out last night and was pretty pleased with myself. I guess all my whining to anyone who would listen has not fallen on deaf ears. I finally broke past 2 miles. You could say I trampled over the 2 mile mark by running 4 miles last night. Yep- that's right 4 whole miles. And surprisingly I didnt feel like ground beef when I was done. The same can't be said today about my left knee though- it hurts

What else wonderful happened yesterday?? The Longhorns trampled (and I mean trampled) Mizzou 56-31. It was beautiful. We kept our well-earned #1 ranking, and hopefully will continue to dominate over the next few weeks. The rest of the season's games (Texas Tech, A&M, and Kansas just to name 3) are no piece of cake, so the Longhorns will really still need to stay on top of things to stay on top of the BCS ratings.
